![]() The bowed psaltry is a narrow triangular two octave chromatic instrument. The frame is constructed of maple and the sound boards are paduk with a rosewood bridge. Our choice of materials make it beautiful to look at and listen to. The twenty-four strings are perpendicular to the narrow end and it is played by drawing a bow across the ends of the strings on either side. It has a range of two octaves. On one side are the whole notes and on the other side are the sharps/flats, the standard keyboard layout. In practice it is very like playing the piano with only one finger, unless you use multiple bows which is an advanced technique. Our company is unique in producing a "tenor" bowed psaltry. The sound is lower in pitch than most bowed psaltrys by half an octave. We consider it to be one of the best bowed psaltrys on the market today. The rich overtones and sustain are quite unique. Included are: a tuning wrench, matching paduk bow strung with natural horse hair, extra string, rosin, tuning information and a cloth carrying case. Hear the
