Hi-
I recently purchased a bamboo flute from the Renaissance Festival in
Larkspur. I had seen these beautiful instruments in 1993 and have
longed for one ever since. Well now that I have one I am truley
impressed by the fine craftsmanship and the splendid tone I have been
able to produce. I have played flute for 33 years so have been able to
learn the notes rather quickly and use my music. Hope to see you at the
Renaissance Festival next year so I can purchase anothe of your
wonderful instruments.
Sincerely,
Hello Mr. Baird -
My family and I are fans of the K.C. Renaissance Festival, having been
three of the past four years. Two years ago I purchased one of your flutes
for my sister in Florida, and hope she has found a great deal of fun in
playing it. Regretted at the time not also purchasing one for my family,
but decided we'd remedy that the following year. Our schedule prevented
going to the Festival at all last year (central MO IS 3 + hours from the
Festival site), but was glad to see one of your vendors still there this
year. A former tenor sax player in high school and college, getting a
working flute embouchure has not been as difficult as I feared. Have the
sharps & flats down so far, but the uppper end of the upper octave will
take some practice.
Glad for your website, as the "overblow" concept described works well. The
instruction and song book had me concerned if I'd get the upper octave or
not. Anyway, thanks for an instrument I intend to take on scout campouts,
bike hikes, and business trips. Godspeed, Sir.
Today I went to the Georgia Renaissance Festival. I have always enjoyed
Flute music. I have never been able to play any instrument before. The
Ladies that waited on me in your behalf were wonderful. The one who
actually sold me the flute I can't remember her name, but she was from AZ.
With her patience and the lessons she gave me at the shoppe I was able to
actually play a song tonight. Sure it was only "Mary Had a Little Lamb"
:-) but it is the first time I have ever played a song. I would appreciate
it if you could give me just the first names of the Ladies working there so
that when I go back I will be able to thank her properly. She gave my her
name but that was early in the day and I forgot it before the day was
through. I believe it started with a "L" but I will recognize it if I see
it again. Thanks again for this great gift.
Well, okay, I only bought my alto flute a few months ago, at the Colorado
Renaissance Festival. Since then, I've learn all the songs in the little
booklet, except the last one that deals with the higher octaves. I've even
been experimenting, and learning how to play other songs. Mainly cartoon
theme songs, and my school's cheesy fight song, but it's really cool to be
able to play songs. The flute is the first instrument I've ever learned, and
I think it's spiffy!
Thanks fer having such a great product to sell!
I just want to let you know that I did receive the flute on Friday just as
you predicted. Many thanks for the prompt turn-around. Not many small
businesses are as fast and friendly as you were, thanks!
And just to let you know, my girlfriend is a flute performance major at
ASU, and she REALLY digs your flutes, so I guess that's a compliment?
One last time, thanks again for the fast response and I wish you the best of
luck with your business.
The flute and two rattles arrived yesterday. They are wonderful! The
flute (D) has a much richer sound than the few other similar ones I have.
Since it is for my daugher's birthday, I'll be ordering another for myself
soon. Thanks.
We love your $4 "Dragon Whistle. The price was a real bargain. Everyone in
the family has one!!!
Hi there. I recently bought a soprano flute from you at the festival in
Altlanta. I have to say that I am amazed at how beautiful it sounds
every time I play it. I have never played a wind instrument before, and
it is quite a challange. I have finally got to the point where I can get
a nice sound on the lower notes almost at will. Most of the time. Now
that I've managed that I find that I tend to get an uwanted wavering
sound on the lower end. Any hints or tips would be greatly apreciated. I
know you are very busy, and may not be able to answer this, so if that
is the case, it's cool.
Please feel free to e-mail me any time. Thanks

Good day, I am an American citizen living in italy, and while visiting
my family back in wisconsin, i was taken to the renaissance festival in
Minnesota, well i have always loved music , and my mother couldn't
resist buying me one of your flutes , i believe you would call it a
soprano, its in the c key, well I have fallen in love with it, after
ofcourse many hours of dry lips trying to get my first scale!!! well I
was wondering if you have any other songs already written in your number
method somewhere on the internet, I do enjoy sounding them out on my own
but it would be wonderful if i could find more already done, also i
would like to complement you for the sales women at the renaissance
festival, I fell in love with her too, haha...very nice and very
helpful, thank you.
I bought a flute at your stall at the Renaissance Festival in Shakopee, MN
last weekend, and I have been having a GREAT time with it!
Thanks again for a great product!
I'll certainly remember your promptness when asked where I purchased the
flute, and hopefully you will get some business from friends and family.
Rod,
i got the shakuhachi last night. Its wonderful!! Thank you so much-i got a lot of practicing to do! And yes , the internet is great indeed.
Thanks for the speedy delivery,
Hi. My name is (omited). I am a flautist. A few years ago, I
went to the Rennaisance Festival in Larkspur, Colorado. When I heard
you playing your flutes, I rushed toward the sound (being a music
fanatic), and upon seeing the flutes, fell instantly in love with
them. I didn't have much money with me (and regretted that until I
returned to larkspur the following year). I purchased a soprano flute
in D.
I absolutely love it! I have three other bamboo flutes, but they are
no where near the quality of the one i bought from you. It is
especially nice when my silver flute gets a leak in one or more pads,
or needs a spring replaced, etc., because none of that happens with
the bamboo flute (unless fingers misbehave).
Someone on a flute listserv, asked about bamboo flutes, and just had
to mention your flutes, but i didn't have the little booklet that came
with the flute in Albuquerque (where I'm going to school), so i looked
around and to my delight you have a web page! i passed on the web
address of course.
Thanks again for making quality instruments, and I'm sure you'll be
hearing from me again sometime (to order another most likely).
Just a quick note to let you know the psaltery arrived safe and 'sound'
today! It already needs a tuning, naturally, but I can't believe the
sensitivity it has to sound around it, it resonates my voice when I
talk. I even have a hawk feather which I can use to pluck the strings
if I want, but the softness of the human finger has a much more mellow
sound.
hello,
we love our flute that we first bought 4 years ago at a Renaissance
festival. We were wondering if you had any other songs from that
period. We have a B flat. Thank you for your time please keep playing
your beautiful songs so that they might ring through the world.
Rod, I just have a coupl-a things to say to you
First is, thanks for a great flute at a fair price and for going out of your way to ship it. The low B student model sounds awesome.
Second, the gig was a great success. I don't think that anyone recognized what kind of instruments I was playing, but the music was good enough for them to pay $200 for the gig, plus a $50.00 tip.
If more gigs happen I can see getting a third, smaller flute, to augment a fine collection.
Hats off to a great flute maker, and a fine businessman.
